Williams resigns post in student activities office
After being at Rice for four years, Assistant Director of Student Activities Holly Williams will leave her position Sept. 7 to become Program Manager of Student Activities at Cy-Fair Community College. Williams will work with Cy-Fair’s Student Government Association and other student organizations.
“This position is an opportunity for advancement in my profession,” Williams said.
As Assistant Director of Student Activities, Williams helped coordinate Orientation Week, advise the Rice Program Council, oversee registered student organizations and coordinate the fall Activities Fair. Additionally, Williams chairs the President’s Programming Fund, Gay and Lesbian Alumni Awards committee and Hudspeth committee. Williams also helps to advise the programming committees for the Rice Retreat and Beer-Bike.
Most of Williams’ duties include advising, but one project Williams was directly involved in was the Leadership Worskhop series, a collaborative project between the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Rice.
“Along with Natalia Ksiezyk, former Assistant Director of Leadership Rice, we designed this program in order to provide Rice students, and particularly club officers and members, with training and skill development in various leadership topics,” Williams said.
Williams said she enjoyed participating in the activities she advised and organized.
“My favorite memories are of Rice Retreats, Beer-Bikes when it doesn’t rain, RPC’s Beer Debates, the graduation parties I host and the wonderful people who live, work and go to school here,” Williams said.
