Glad to have GATHER
Almost two years after head football coach Ken Hatfield’s incendiary comments raised concerrns about the inclusiveness of the Rice community, we are glad to see students working to change things for the better.
The new gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered resource center, GATHER, could be more effective than any administration-led effort to improve campus climate because it stems from the passion of student leaders. With that in mind, we hope the administration provides additional funding to support the center.
