Rondelet set for Rockin’ good times

After a lot of talk, Rice Program Council seems to have come up with some sensible improvements to Rondelet. The plan, a red-carpet event at Texas Avenue’s Hard Rock Cafe, has several advantages over a recycled-prom-dress, hotel-ballroom formal.

First, the venue’s location near the light rail line will make it easier for students to arrive safely. We are glad that RPC will also run shuttles to and from the event as in the past.

Second, tickets will not be quite as pricy. Advance tickets will sell for $15, down from last year’s $20. The lower cost, combined with the trendier venue, might boost attendance.

Finally, Hard Rock Cafe’s cash bar will attract upperclassmen to what has increasingly become an event for underclassmen only.

We are also glad RPC decided to revitalize Rondelet rather than abandoning it altogether after disappointing attendance over the past few years.
