SA should let the students vote

· Claims that there is a severe gap between the Student Association and the rest of the student body are cliche. But at Monday's meeting, the SA played that same old tune, blocking students from being able to vote on an environmental blanket tax -- a tax that more than 80 percent of students supported, according to an SA poll from last year (see story, page 1).

· When students vote in the Student Association elections, they will find a ballot filled with Constitutional Amendments galore and one very important blanket tax adjustment -- increasing the Thresher blanket tax from $7.60 to $14.30. We cannot stress enough the importance of this change.

The writers strike has been hard on us

· For the past several months, students have had to suffer reruns and reality shows as the Writers Guild of America has been on strike to gain better compensation for their work. But as producers and union members finalize an agreement, we believe that students should celebrate the eventual return of our favorite shows, which often serve as escapist breaks from our stressful lives.
