Baseball clinches C-USA title with wins over Cougars
· The top-ranked baseball team clinched its 11th straight conference championship against Conference USA and city rival No. 16 University of Houston Sunday at Reckling Park. The Owls also won their sixth-straight Silver Glove, awarded annually to the winner of the Rice-UH baseball series since 1998.
Eggert ends 38-year career as trainer
· Assistant athletic director for medical services and head athletic trainer Allen Eggert (Will Rice '63) announced his retirement two weeks ago at Rice after being at Rice for 38 years.
Injury-plagued Rice falls to Texas
· After falling 4-1 to the University of Tulsa in the championship match of the Conference USA tournament, the men's tennis team came back with a 4-1 win over the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Saturday and seemed poised for a run deep into the postseason. However, for the third time in four years, the University of Texas ended those hopes, crushing the Owls 4-0 in a weather-delayed match that spanned more than six hours in Austin Sunday.
