Owls' upset bid falls an extra point short
· The football team impressed fans and critics alike last Saturday with a string of 30 unanswered points in it's first game under new head coach Todd Graham. However, Rice fell late to the University of Houston 31-30 in front of a crowd of 23,352 at Rice Stadium.
Rice should embrace new football culture
· Last Saturday night, real college football -- you know, the body-painted, all-day-affair football -- descended on the Rice campus like, well, an angry War Owl screeching into battle. Rice students got a glimpse of one of the few things big universities have worth envying: a football culture.
Volleyball wins Hyatt Regency/Rice Invitational
· The volleyball team made the most of its home-court advantage this weekend in the Holiday Inn Select/Rice Invitational, riding the stellar play of tournament MVP Karyn Morgan to a victory last weekend at Autry Court. The Owls returned to the floor Wednesday for a quick three-set victory over McNeese State University, improving the team's record to 4-3 on the season.
